If you have used our map in the past, you'll see that we have added two new features to the mountain section of our fall color map: towns and scenic roads. We hope these new graphics help you orient yourself as you decide where to visit in the North Carolina Mountains during our fall foliage season. This map differs from most other such maps because it combines the effects of both elevation and latitude on fall color, whereas most other maps simply use elevation alone.....

Bone Chilling Temps Arrive in Sapphire Valley

Tuesday morning, September 22, 2020 - 

We had a bone chilling low of 34 degrees here in Sapphire Valley and the wood stoves were smoking and glowing!  There is nothing like the smell of North Carolina oak burning in the fireplace as the first wave of chilly weather arrives in Sapphire Valley.

Labor Day in Sapphire Valley could not have been better! Tennis, hiking, pickleball, golf, mountain biking or just relaxing in the beautiful Smoky Mountains made for a great long weekend.

Ski Sapphire Summer Images

As temperatures continue to be on the warm side in the low country, we thought we would get you thinking about Ski Sapphire Valley and snow sports with a few summer images.

 These chairs are being x-rayed for safety. This is a standard requirement at all ski areas. They will be back on the lift very shortly.

 

This is a great image of the community center and the mountains beyond. This is also the venue for Concerts on the Slopes that will return next year post-COVID.

 

An interesting find. This image shows one of the Great Outhouse Races outhouses I found on the side of the slopes with appropriate instructions included!
